Description

Thanks for listening to Mystery, Science, Marshall! I'm so glad you're joining us for the podcast's coverage of Marvel's Disney+ series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier." In this episode, Marshall welcomes his best friend Rachel Hauschildt to the podcast to talk about episode three of the show entitled "Power Broker."

This was a very different episode than the past two. Marshall and Rachel begin by discussing Bucky and asking the question of what does Bucky really want? They agree it was scary to see Bucky fall so easily back into the Winter Soldier persona. Both hosts were surprised at the increased level of violence utilized in this episode, appreciating how the writers are leaning into the darkness of this situation. In discussing Zemo, Marshall raves about the villain's unpredictable and mischievous nature. With looking at John Walker's story, they notice interesting parallels to Bucky's previous decisions, pondering the question of does the end justify the means? Rachel loved seeing Sharon Carter in the series, and Marshall theorizes about her true motives. Finally, the two discuss how this series explores responsibility and identity along with the looming presence of the Global Repatriation Council. After the ad break, Marshall and Rachel challenge each other to write a Haiku about a Marvel character.
